Ane watched as most of her children died before the age of 33 and still had faith in God. Soren wrote about her in 1844 in his second discourse of 1844.

Søren Kierkegaard was a Christian author who was against applying the ideas of the Scientific Enlightenment to Christianity. He lived in Denmark from 1813 to 1855. His works were written to the single individual who might be interested in reading them. He was against Christian nationalism.
